Turkey is grateful to the Mexican dog Proteo. The hero dog worked hard to save the people who were under the rubble in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Turkey. He saved 3 people during his work. However, he died after an unfortunate accident. Everyone felt sorry for Proteo, especially the Mexican search and rescue team. He will continue to live in the hearts of the Turkish people. So why did Proteo die?

The Mexican team, which was in Adıyaman to support the search and rescue efforts due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, said goodbye to Proteo, the search and rescue dogs that died during the work.

 

Proteo, who took part in a team of 150 people who came to Turkey from Mexico for search and rescue activities after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş that affected 10 provinces, played an important role in the survival of three people from the rubble.

The Mexican team bid farewell to Proteo, who fell ill during the search and rescue efforts.

Proteo's trainer, Juan Carlos Villeda Marquez, said that they primarily shared Turkey's pain.

Emphasizing that they were very upset as the Mexican people, army and state because of the earthquake, Marquez said, "Our army has assigned us. We have come to support our brotherly country. We are here to work with the Turkish teams. Our aim was to rush to help. We are very sorry. To get people out of the rubble, to bring the pain of families a little bit," said Marquez. We're here to pacify anyway." said.

Explaining that he served as a dog trainer in the army, and that Proteo participated in operations in many regions such as Haiti, Guatemala and Ecuador as well as Mexico, Marquez said that Turkey's last mission is for the experienced search and rescue dogs Proteo.

Stating that Proteo saved many people during the search and rescue efforts during his mission, Marquez said, "It has completed its mission. We brought him here to share his experience. He helped to get alive from many wrecks here.

 

He made many locations. In that regard, the Proteo valuable dog is more of a dear friend to us. First of all, I lost my best friend. I'm so sorry, my eyes are full of tears. We participated in many operations together. “We always supported each other when we were on the field.”

"MORE THAN A DOG, IT WAS A SAVING FOR US"

Stating that they aimed to help the people under the rubble in the earthquake and return home with Proteo, Marquez said:

"He was a friend, a savior for us rather than a dog. It was our last day on the field as well. We hoped to return from the field together in the same way. Since we come from a far place, we have to take this into account, because the climatic conditions were not the same, he had some difficulties. "He was our good dog. We couldn't return from the last mission together. Unfortunately we lost him. We buried him in the camp's garden and held a ceremony."
